Frequently Asked Questions

Specialist Glass Repair FAQ

Often our prospective franchisees have common questions. Hopefully our FAQ&A's will help if you have some.

What is the standard term of the franchise Agreement?
The standard term for the initial agreement is ten years. However in order to comply with UK franchise legislation a five year break clause is required for either party to invoke.

How long is the technical training for a new technician or franchisee?
The technical training lasts one week and is an intensive course and a combination of online and face to face training based in Surrey. In addition to that we consolidate your learning in the city set up where we accompany you in your new territory.

Do I need any experience in the glass industry to become a franchisee?
No. In fact it is preferable if you have no glass experience as the SGR equipment and methodology is completely unique. It’s good to start with a blank canvas.

This would be my first venture into entrepreneurship…do I need any experience in business?
No not at all. We are happy to support and guide you through the business set up process and get you started. Our operations and marketing manuals will guide you step by step and we are always on the end of a phone line to support you no matter what the business issue.

Will I have my own defined territory?
Yes. You will have exclusive rights to your territory regardless of job source for the duration of your tenure. We denmark the territories by postcode.

Are there any turnover targets or indeed penalties for low production against those targets?
No. There are no productivity targets within our franchise agreements and certainly no penalties against production. That’s not the SuperGlass way. Our ethos is to encourage, help and support you towards your own business aspirations. The carrot not the stick!

Will SGR provide all of my work?
No. We will distribute jobs directly to you from national accounts that we have. These are dispatched centrally through an app. We do have partnerships for repair work with two of the largest replacement networks in the UK. We will also show you how to generate B2B work locally and we can set up a Google Ads campaign to provide you with consumer calls.

How long does the technical training take?
The intensive training schedule lasts a week and generally this is delivered Monday to Friday.

Will I need an attorney to review the franchise agreement.
That’s up to you but we always advise you to seek independent advice from a qualified source.

Will I need to buy my own equipment?
All of the technical equipment is provided on your training event and the costs is included in your franchise fee as is your training fee.

Will I need to set up a company to trade my SGR  franchise through.
Not necessarily, but most do in line with professional advice and to limited their personal liability.
